What Is Gastroparesis is a condition that affects the normal
spontaneous movement of the muscles (motility) in the stomach preventing the
stomach from emptying properly.
Cause: It's not always clear what leads to gastroparesis; in many
cases, gastroparesis is believed to be caused by damage to a nerve that controls the stomach muscles.
The vagus nerve helps manage the complex
processes in your digestive tract, including signaling the muscles in your
stomach to contract and push food into the small intestine.
A damaged vagus nerve
can't send signals normally to the stomach muscles. This may cause food to
remain in your stomach longer, rather than move normally into your small
intestine to be digested. The vagus nerve can be damaged by diseases, such as
diabetes, or by surgery to the stomach
or small intestine.
Commentary: Understand why doctors may advocate Stem-cell Therapy;
replace and regenerate old vargus nerve cells w/ those directly from original
source. This maybe a viable treatment although expensive and question medical
ethics w/ respect to donor harvesting cells and selective placement etc.
The
gut brain: The
Second Brain, by a professor of anatomy and cell biology says: “The brain is not
the only place in the body that’s full of neurotransmitters. A hundred million
neurotransmitters line the length of the gut, approximately the same number
that is found in the brain…”
Those butterflies in your stomach are real and
caused by a surge of stress hormones
released by the body in a “fight or
flight” situation. Nearly every chemical that controls the brain in the
head has been identified in the gut brain, including hormones and
neurotransmitters (like serotonin). The
gut’s brain and the head’s brain act the same way when they are deprived of
input from the outside world.
Commentary:
Is this why emotions surge and descend seemingly without warning with appetite
demands? Would sunshine, natural green vitamin D3 supplements, wheat grass affect
stress?
Drugs
designed to have psychic effects on the brain are very likely to have an effect
on the gut as well. For instance around a quarter of
people taking Prozac or similar antidepressants that alter serotonin levels in
the body, can end up with gastrointestinal problems like nausea, diarrhea and constipation.
Evidence suggests that IBS (irritated bowel syndrome) originates from a change in serotonin levels. In a
healthy person, serotonin in the gut is cleared from the bowel by a serotonin
transporter found in the cells that line the gut wall.
A
holistic view
Recent
studies suggest that a healthy gut in
infancy can in addition to helping to maintain immunity have a profound
effect on our mind and emotional health later in life. Other data suggest the “cross-talk”
between bacteria in our gut and our brain plays an important role in the
development of psychiatric illness, intestinal diseases and probably other
health problems including obesity.
But
he opposite is also true. Our psychological, social and environmental environment
can influence symptoms like pain and inflammation in the gut as well as how
efficient our digestive process is.
Research
suggests that some people with functional gastrointestinal tract (GI) disorders
perceive pain more acutely than other people do because their brains do not
properly regulate pain signals from the GI tract. Stress can make the existing
pain seem even worse.
Maintaining
that balance from early in life has as much influence on our mental
and emotional health
as it does our physical health.
Practice
stress reduction. Both yoga and meditation are excellent ways to relax. Regular
exercise is also important. But any hobby that absorbs you completely will
substantially lower your levels of stress hormones and this will have a knock
on effect on gut health. So remember – make space for yourself and the things
you enjoy. http://www.nyrnaturalnews.com/article/get-smart-take-good-care-of-your-second-brain/

Garlic used to flavor food has been used to treat certain medical conditions including cancer. Garlic is associated with decreased risk of some cancers … by decreasing tumor cell growth or stimulating the immune system. Clinical trials suggest that high garlic consumption may lower the risk of [certain] cancers. http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/herb/garlic
Commentary:
It appears that the natural actions of garlic can help the systems and organs
affected by Gastro Paresis; even stress is connected to the nervous system
Q. Effect GM
