Who knew there were other uses for Coca Cola - Wow! Isn’t that interesting?! Occasionally I too enjoy the refreshing beverage but for continuing that infrequent pleasure, the jury’s still out. http://www.homesessive.com/view/unusual-uses-coca-cola#show-gallery

Thyroid Disease and Tonic Herbs
What is the thyroid and what does it do?
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the front of the neck just below the Adams apple. The gland wraps around the windpipe (trachea) and has a shape that is similar to a butterfly formed by two wings (lobes) and attached by a middle part (isthmus). The thyroid gland works like a tiny factory that uses iodine (mostly from the diet in foods such as seafood and salt) to produce thyroid hormones.
These hormones help to regulate the body's metabolism and effects processes, such as growth and other important functions of the body. The two most important thyroid hormones are thyroxine and triiodothyronine. There is another hormone produced by the thyroid called calcitonin. Calcitonin is produced by specific cells in the thyroid gland … it is not involved in this regulation of metabolism. Calcitonin is a hormone that contributes to the regulation of calcium and helps to lower calcium levels in the blood. Excess calcium in the blood is referred to as hypercalcemia.
The thyroid itself is regulated by another gland located in the brain, called the pituitary. In turn, the pituitary is regulated in part by the thyroid (via a "feedback" effect of thyroid hormone on the pituitary gland) and by another gland called the hypothalamus.
Hypothyroidism Take a daily high-potency vitamin and mineral supplement that contains vitamin A, B2, B3, B6, C, E, tyrosine, zinc, and selenium all which are necessary for the thyroid to function properly. http://www.ehow.com/how_4968650_improve-underactive-thyroid.html
Hyperthyroidism According to Kenneth Ain and Sara Rosenthal, authors of Complete Thyroid Book, certain supplements may help treat an overactive thyroid and protect you from future recurrences: Vitamin A, B-Complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin E.

Iodine is a necessary nutrient our bodies need for our thyroid to function properly). Adding salt-water fish, garlic and asparagus in your diet would also improve your iodine intake.
The Endocrine System produce hormones. Garlic (2nd most powerful tonic herb) balances the body’s systems and fortifies its glands and organs, naturally. http://thehealthalert.blogspot.com/2012/02/elixirs-snake-oils-tonics.html
Kelp contains nearly thirty minerals which nourish the glands (especially the thyroid and pituitary). By enhancing the action of the glandular system, it helps balance the body's metabolism and rate at which it burns calories. Kelp, also known as seaweed, grows in the rich ocean beds, far below surface pollution levels. Because of its high nutrient content, this herb is reputedly beneficial for a wide range of applications. It is known to nourish the sensory nerves, brain membranes, also spinal cord and brain tissue. Kelp contains alginic acid which can help protect the body against the effects of radiation. http://www.all-natural.com/herbguid.html
