What is geniVida® brand genistein
geniVida genistein is a synthetic form of genistein. It is nature-identical and has the same chemical structure as natural (from soy) genistein. It is non-soy genistein.
Natural Genistein is one of several known isoflavones. Isoflavones, such as genistein and daidzein, are found in a number of plants including lupin, fava beans, soybeans, kudzu, and psoralea being the primary food source, also in the medicinal plant, Flemingia vestita[ and coffee. Besides functioning as antioxidant and anthelmintic, many isoflavones have been shown to interact with animal and human estrogen receptors, causing effects in the body similar to those caused by the hormone estrogen. Isoflavones also produce non-hormonal effects.
The main source of genistein are soybeans. Other legumes, such as chickpeas, contain small amounts of genistein. The main source of genistein is the glucoside genistin. www.genistein.net/ Cached - Similar

Review of health benefit
In spite of an extensive literature on the effects of dietary genistein, questions still exist as to its potential overall benefits as a component of the human diet. Dietary genistein ingestion has been linked, through epidemiological and animal model studies, with a range of potential health effects. These include prevention of breast, colon, and prostate cancers, cardiovascular disease and post-menopausal ailments. Genistein may also be helpful in decreasing bone loss after menopause.

Hot flashes, and menopause
Genistein and other flavonoids do not appear to have a significant effect in reducing the severity of hot flashes, at least not as much as estrogen. http://www.raysahelian.com/genistein.html ==è

Conclusion: It appears that genistein derived naturally from soybeans, (not synthetic) has the ability to do as cited, a good thing. However questions arise challenging the use of synthetic genistein. Why synthesize artificial genistein? Is the synthetic version of genistein compatible with the human body? Are there additives or bi-products that negatively affect the kidneys and other organs? Instead of the synthetic genistein with its unknown additives, simply consume natural soybean extract.
